ST connector has bayonet coupling mechanism, and it has high performance single mode or  multimode pre-radiuses ceramic ferrule. Pre-polished ferrules minimize the polishing times and provide a consistent ferrule end face geometry. ST is a trademark of Lucent Technologies.
